Making software click

by Chris Harding on May 11, 2010

Instead of being tied to your laptop to move slides forward, use a remote control to click through your slideshow.

There are many ‘Presenter’s Aids’ in the marketplace that advance slides.

PresentationsThis one from Kensington is my preferred ‘clicker’ for the following reasons:

  1. It has an ergonomic shape that nestles in the hand
  2. The weight feels just right
  3. The not-quite-smooth texture provides a good grip, particularly useful in presenting situations where perspiration may be an issue!
  4. A simplistic button layout means you don’t have to look at it to choose the right one
  5. It has a red laser pointer built in
  6. You can blank the screen to focus audience attention on the presenter
  7. The wireless USB plug is stored within the unit, which turns off power. No more unexpected flat batteries!
  8. 20 metre range allows presenter freedom

In summary, an inexpensive presenter’s tool that’s easy to use due to good design.

If you choose to buy one, that’s a great decision. If you buy one using the link above, then MouseProud gets a small fee for introducing you to the presenter. Which I guess is only fair!
